Dive Into the Dirt: Maine’s Premier Family-Friendly Obstacle Challenge

Lace up your sneakers and leave your “clean clothes” expectations at the door! On Sunday, April 27, 2025, the Thomas College Dirty Dog Mud Run returns to Waterville, Maine, for a high-octane celebration of grit, glory, and a whole lot of mud.

This isn’t just a race; it’s a full-throttle 5K journey through 12 to 14 soul-testing obstacles designed to push your limits and plaster a smile across your face. Whether you’re an elite “lap-chaser” or a first-time mudder, this event captures the wild, unscripted spirit of Maine’s Mud Season 2025.


🏃‍♂️ Elite Challenges: Heats & Endurance

To earn your place on the podium, you’ll need to beat the clock and the competition in our official timed heats.

The Award-Winning Heats:

Timed competition runs every 10 minutes to ensure maximum flow and minimum wait times at the obstacles:

  • Start Times: 9:00 AM, 9:10 AM, 9:20 AM, 9:30 AM, 9:40 AM, 9:50 AM, 10:00 AM.

  • 🏆 Awards Ceremony: 11:00 AM – Celebrate the top “Dirty Dogs” of the day!

🏅 The 2025 Lap Challenge:

Think one 5K isn’t enough? Prove it.

  • Kickoff: 8:45 AM.

  • The Goal: Complete as many full laps as possible before the 12:00 PM cutoff.

  • The Reward: Specialized awards for those with the endurance of a sled dog.

The Dirty Dog is officially an all-ages affair! We’ve revamped the experience to make it the ultimate family mud-fest.

  • The Kids Race (Ages 10 & Under): A new, specially designed course that scales the fun down and the mud up!

  • The “Tweener” Option: For tough pups aged 8-10, parents can decide if they’re ready for the full adult 5K or the specialized kids’ course.
