Spring has finally arrived in Maine. The air feels crisp and fresh. Flowers are starting to bloom. Downtown Kennebunk is preparing for its biggest party of the season. We are so excited to announce the return of the May Day Festival. Please join us on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026. This event is packed with fun activities for everyone.
For over 25 years, this festival has been a local tradition. It brings the community together in the heart of downtown. You will find family-oriented activities that everyone enjoys. Every year, we add new surprises to the schedule. This keeps the experience fresh and exciting for returning guests. Whether you are a local or a visitor, you will love the atmosphere.
Start Your Day Right in Kennebunk
The festival begins early on Saturday morning. You will find plenty of ways to kick off your day. Hunger will not be an issue. You can start with a hearty meal. Duffy’s Tavern is hosting their famous pancake breakfast. It is a fantastic way to support a local business.
After breakfast, stroll through the Farmer’s Market. You will find fresh, seasonal produce. Local vendors take great pride in their goods. It is a wonderful way to connect with Maine’s agricultural roots. The market is open until midday.
Family Fun Around Every Corner
The May Day Festival is all about family bonding. We have designed a wide array of activities for children. Parents will love the variety of options available. You can head over to the Waterhouse Center for events throughout the day. It is a central hub for all the action.
The Kennebunk Free Library is hosting a big book sale. It is a perfect spot for avid readers. If you have little ones, do not miss the Faerie Festival. It is always a magical experience.

Creative Arts and Local Culture
Kennebunk has a vibrant arts scene. The Brick Store Museum is a must-see stop. They are hosting a special exhibit called “Technicolor Bloom.” It celebrates color and form in the springtime. Nature lovers should head to Hope Cemetery. The Friends of Hope Woods are hosting nature walks. You can walk with a naturalist. There will be story time for children. Music and The Parade
What is a festival without music? Tibbetts Plaza is the place to be. We have live bands playing all morning. The music sets a cheerful tone for the event. You can relax and enjoy the rhythm.
The parade is the grand finale. It is a staple of the festival. Everyone gathers on Water Street to watch. You will see local groups, performers, and community leaders. The energy is always incredible.
