Discover Greenville’s Revitalized Waterfront: A New Era for Moosehead Lake

Moosehead Lake has long been the crown jewel of Maine’s North Woods, but something spectacular is unfolding on the shores of Greenville. The legendary Red Cross Beach has undergone a breathtaking transformation, evolving from a simple swimming spot into a world-class, multi-use recreation destination.

Whether you are a thrill-seeking mountain biker, a family looking for the perfect picnic spot, or a traveler seeking a peaceful stroll with panoramic lake views, the revitalized Red Cross Beach Skills Park is officially your “must-visit” basecamp for adventure in 2025.

What’s New? Elevating the Moosehead Experience

The $750,000+ investment in this 6.4-acre shorefront property has turned the “beach” into a dynamic community park. In the words of Greenville Town Manager Mike Roy, “It’s more like a park now, not necessarily just a beach.”

New & Enhanced Amenities Include:

  • Mountain Bike Skills Course: A professionally designed park featuring a Pump Track, skills training areas, and flow zones. Perfect for practicing balance, cornering, and jumps.

  • Expanded Trail Network: Newly constructed walking paths and bike trails that offer a serene way to explore the shoreline.

  • Family-First Features: A brand-new children’s playground and two custom-built picnic pavilions (expertly crafted by students from the Tri-County Technical Center).

  • Modern Infrastructure: A new multipurpose storage and recreation building, upgraded docks for water access, and dedicated parking (including ADA-accessible spots).

A Project Driven by Community & Vision

This transformation was made possible through a powerful partnership between the Moosehead Outdoor Alliance, the Town of Greenville, and the Moosehead Lake Region Economic Development Corporation (MLREDC). From the Muzzy family’s generous material donations to the local students building the pavilions, this park is a testament to the spirit of Moosehead Lake.

Note: As the project nears its Fall 2025 completion, town officials are currently holding a naming vote to finalize the site’s new identity—stay tuned for the official “Park” name reveal!
