This isn’t just a race; it’s a high-energy “Golden Era” throwback that pits gravity against upholstery in a spectacle you have to see to believe.

As one of Maine’s most unique winter festivals, the Mattress Race invites thrill-seekers to don their best vintage neon, tease up their hair, and launch creatively decorated mattresses down the Main Slope. Whether you’re chasing the “Fastest Mattress” title or just aiming for the best-dressed team, this event is the ultimate celebration of spring skiing and old-school Maine grit.

2025 Event Schedule: Plan Your Race Day

The mountain will be buzzing with “Golden Era” energy from morning until the lifts stop spinning:

  • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Team Registration at Guest Services. Don’t wait—spots fill fast!

  • 12:45 PM: Pre-race gathering for judging and theme display.

  • 1:00 PM: The Green Flag drops! Downhill mayhem begins on the Main Slope.

  • Post-Race: Head to the on-site restaurant for après-ski eats and the official awards ceremony.

How to Join the Pack: Participant Rules

To ensure the fun stays safe and the competition stays fierce, all teams must follow these guidelines:

  • The Crew: Teams of up to 4 people.

  • The Credentials: All racers must have a valid lift ticket or season pass.

  • The Safety: Helmets are mandatory for all participants.

  • The Waiver: Racers 17 and under require a parent or guardian’s signature on the liability release.

The “Golden Era” Mattress Specs

  • Allowed: Traditional twin, full, queen, or king mattresses only.
