Adventure Amplified: Part #2 of the 2025 Maine Racing Season

Are you ready to take your paddling to the next level? Outdoor Adventure Maine is back with Part #2 of our 2025 Canoe & Kayak Race Schedule, curated with the help of MACKRO.org. As the spring snowmelt turns into early summer flow, the racing circuit heats up with legendary whitewater challenges, multi-day stage races, and coastal river runs.

In 2025, Maine’s racing scene is bigger and more inclusive than ever. Whether you’re chasing points in the MaCKRO Downriver Series or simply looking for a high-energy community BBQ and a great day on the water, these late May and June events are the heart and soul of the Maine Highlands.


🛶 Late May & June 2025: The Action-Packed Schedule

Sunday, May 18 — Union River Race (Ellsworth)

  • Time: Start 11:00 AM | Registration: 9:00–10:30 AM at Graham Lake Dam ($20 cash).

  • The Vibe: A technical 4.5-mile whitewater run with one mandatory portage.

  • Perk: Don’t miss the legendary post-race potluck mussel feed at Ellsworth Harbor Park!

Sunday, May 18 — 1st Annual Tylor Kelly’s Allagash Dash

  • Time: 10:00 AM | Registration: 8:00–9:30 AM at the Allagash Community Center.

  • The Vibe: A massive 15-mile Class II whitewater “mass start” dedicated to a local legend. This race marks a historic return of competitive paddling to the Allagash region.

  • Perk: Includes a Free BBQ, shuttle service, and free t-shirts for pre-registered paddlers (by May 16).

May 23–25 — 56th Annual General Clinton Canoe Regatta

  • Location: Cooperstown, NY to Bainbridge, NY.

  • The Vibe: The ultimate flatwater test—a 70-mile “marathon of the east” on the Susquehanna River.

Saturday, June 7 — Millinocket X-Stream Canoe Race

  • Time: Race starts at 12:00 PM | Registration: 8:00–10:00 AM.

  • The Vibe: One of Maine’s most technical races. Navigate 7.4 miles of solid Class II/III rapids, including the infamous “Turtle Pit”.

  • Special: All proceeds benefit regional youth paddling programs!

Saturday, June 21 — Royal River Rumble (North Yarmouth)

  • Time: Start 11:00 AM | Registration: 9:30–10:30 AM at Dunn’s Depot Trail.

  • The Vibe: A scenic flatwater “point series” race with 11-mile and 5-mile options. Excellent logistics with a shared start/finish line.

June 20–22 — Rangeley Oquossoc Adventure Rendezvous (ROAR)

  • Location: Rangeley Lakes Region.

  • The Vibe: Part of the High Peaks PaddleFest, this is a massive two-day, 40-mile stage race through the legendary chain of lakes once used by Native settlers and guides.

  • Perks: Equipment demos, clinics, and a “Paddlers’ Guide” provided to all participants.
